If you’ve been drooling about wearing that amazing wedding gown you found with ALL THE THINGS, you may not have considered how restrictive, tricky and uncomfortable it can be to actually wear it all night long. At some point you’ll find yourself asking “do I need a reception dress”?!
For this reason, it’s becoming more common for brides to ditch the big gown after the ceremony and photos are over, for an outfit that’s little more user-friendly. A quick wardrobe change can mean some relief to a bride who plans on dancing all night long and doesn’t want to worry about itchy layers or torturous undergarments. Plus who doesn’t like a 2nd opportunity to make an entrance!
But do you actually NEED a 2nd dress for your wedding? Well it depends. On this issue there generally tend to be 2 schools of thought.
1. I spent a sh*t-ton of money on this dress and I’m wearing it for as long as humanly possible. PERIOD.
2. My wedding gown is beautiful and amazing but it’s too much to wear all night long.
There’s no right or wrong answer here. But if you decide to go with the reception dress option, here are some ideas on how you can keep it budget-friendly:
And remember, reception dresses don’t have to be as formal as the main wedding gown. The whole point is to wear something more toned down and comfortable! Adding a sparkly belt or a badass leather jacket may be all you need to accessorize an otherwise plain white dress.
