We are so excited to share photos from Colleen and Jacob’s wedding at La Vie DC Restaurant. A charming waterfront restaurant in the District Wharf. This spacious locale boasts scenic views of the DC Wharf, a luxurious atmosphere and a gorgeous rooftop space overlooking the water.
We absolutely love restaurant weddings because the food is always amazing and because restaurant wedding venues are full of personality and style. Just check out this lovely wedding and you’ll know why! But restaurant weddings can by tricky to plan.
For one, you’re either looking at two main options: a full buy-out, or a private section. La Vie is amazing because they offer a private section (thus saving you from having to buy out the entire restaurant). Also, most restaurants only do big events like weddings here and there. But LaVie does special events all the time. And the restaurant was designed with this in mind–so it flows really well.
While every restaurant usually has a catering manager or wedding coordinator on staff, that person is only responsible for the details within their restaurant. This is usually limited to helping you plan out the menu, helping you select linens and tableware, making sure the food is served properly, the beverages are passed, and the cake is served. But that’s usually where their responsibilities end. This is why many couples, including Collen and Jacob, hire an outside Wedding Coordinator to help them with all of the other things that go above and beyond the venue planner’s call of duty.
The Wedding Planner you hire will call all of your vendors before your wedding to schedule delivery times, be the first to arrive at the venue to make sure everything is set-up as you discussed, and stay through the entirety of your event to help troubleshoot any issues that arise, and help to set up and take down all of your DIY decor so that you and your family members don’t have to lift a finger!
We pick up all the details that are so important for your wedding. Will the florist decorate the cake, or leave the flowers for the bakery to decorate? And what if the cake is not on time–who will call them to find out what’s going on? Has the band arrived and finished their sound check before the guests arrive?
