Macey and Joshua’s Oxon Hill Manor wedding was filled with the old world charm of Europe. Macey first heard about Joshua while living and working in Milan, Italy as an Au Pair one Summer. During her stay there, Macey became friends with a fellow American Au Pair (Jessie). Jessie mentioned that she had a really great friend (Joshua) who would be transferring to Macey’s school–Liberty University–in the Fall. Before returning back to the states to start her junior year of college, Macey reached out to Joshua and they began messaging each other. Macey eventually met Joshua met in person at LU and they the rest, as they say, is history!
Their black-tie garden wedding at Oxon Hill Manor was originally supposed to be a small wedding in the Italian countryside (a nod to the roundabout way the met). But the couple realized that they wanted to “celebrate with as many of our closest family and friends as possible” while still invoking some of Italy’s romantic aesthetic. Luckily, they didn’t have to choose! Their historic mansion venue sits high on a hill with a picturesque view of the Potomac River from the garden area. Its lush grounds, expansive views and stately large rooms make it an immensely popular rental site for weddings. The grounds include formal English gardens, rose bushes surrounding a reflecting pool, and a large brick patio–perfect for outdoor entertaining.
The couple even got a little more than they could have bargained for during their nuptials thanks to an epic double rainbow that appeared during their portrait session! What more could you want from a fairy tale wedding! We were so honored to help Macey and Joshua celebrate their special day!
